Well, there was little heat relief here 346 miles from home. One would think the further north you go, the cooler the climate. Not this time. Fortunately, for me, my back in site was well shaded and most comfortable. The high so far, in the shade, was 88°. The only other members of the Hudson Islanders RV group in attendance were Ray/Kathy, Noreen/Jack and Doreen/Tony. Their larger rigs were in the pull-thru sites across the way with only one tree.
After the morning sun passed overhead...about 10 am, the rest of the day was shady.
Sites were clean, level with full hook-ups.
Shade? No problem. Tony can fix anything...and I mean anything.
Visiting in nearby Alexandria Bay, NY were Tony's sister, Jo, and granddaughter, Sara, who stopped by for the day and enjoyed a trip to the ice cream place with us.

Just at the entrance to this campground is the locally famous The Gal's Place. Ice cream that boggles the mind, the senses and the pocketbook.
"Lunch specials, baked goods, special order cakes & cookies, salads and catering menu."
With temps in the 90's what better treat than cups/cones of ice cream
The first amazing treat is choice.
The second, size. The "Baby Baby" is what most of think of when we order ice cram...one scoop. And the third is the reasonable price. You get a lot of ice cream.
With the heat, if you don't eat fast, you're outta luck
While sitting in the shade enjoying our treats, some "entertainment" happened by.
Obedient 'junior' would sit until master gave the command to fetch. I'm assuming the older was "mama" (she didn't participate in the fetching game). We watched and enjoyed the eagerness, anticipation and happiness of 'junior' fetching. I caught some of it on video:
Another visual treat while enjoying our ice cream was the arrival of an eye-opening Indian motorcycle.

The leather "fringe" enhancements were very impressive.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch, or the "pirate's" cove, I'm guessing these folks are here for the long term.
And up in the crotch of a tree sat another little friend watching without a care in the world.
And so concludes Sunday. With so much to write about I decided to break my posts down into daily activities that make up my day. I get to bed late and want to capture thoughts before they get lost in slumber-land. (You know how that really translate, correct?) The heat during the day demands sitting in the shade or remaining in your coach. At night around the campfire, the flies/mosquitoes demand you use spray and hope the breeze keeps them away while at the same time not wanting Jack's fire to remind you what heat and smoke are like around the ol' campfire. Yes, Kathy supplied s'mores tonight.

It’s so hot up there, but is the humidity bad too? It’s been gorgeous here mid 70’s and low humidity. Such a treat from Florida weather. 6 days to go and, because I am pretty sure that it’s my last year, goodbye to beautiful 🍀🍀🍀

ReplyDeleteNo, I was a "good" boy and kept with the 2-scoop size (Maple Walnut...no Butter Pecan). They go up to 5 scoops, so that's "good."
